Eu preciso começar essa resenha dizendo que: Lisa Kleypas sabe muito bem como nos envolver em uma teia de acontecimentos. Amante por uma tarde começa com um enredo simples, com um plot principal de enemies to lovers e, no final, nos pega de surpresa com algumas revelações inesperadas.

Meu maior medo em relação a essa trilogia era ficar presa aos mesmos plots desnecessários que eu achei no primeiro livro. Ainda bem que, por ser uma trilogia, Cortesã por uma noite foi apenas uma introdução ao universo da Bow Street e, neste segundo livro, temos um gosto real do que realmente são os nossos patrulheiros.

Eu não sei dizer não a um “enemies to lovers” e ter uma protagonista determinada a se vingar realmente fez com que o enredo de Amante por uma tarde tivesse um algo a mais. Sophia não é uma protagonista passiva e, por isso, temos diversas cenas onde ela flerta e provoca Ross sem nenhum pudor.

O único problema é que, apesar de movida pelo desejo de vingança, Sophia não tem a habilidade de impedir o seu coração de se apaixonar pelo homem que odeia. E, pelo menos pra mim, a jornada do ódio se transformando em amor, foi maravilhosa.

Estou apaixonada por Ross Cannon

Ross pode ser um homem há anos em celibato, mas sabe (ao contrário dos homens da vida real) como fazer uma mulher desejá-lo.

Não é só uma questão de personalidade taciturna, mas o jeito sincero e preocupado que ele demonstra durante todo o livro, sabe? É um homem que carrega a culpa da perda da primeira esposa, mas que não desistiu de ver e fazer o bem no mundo.

Um brutamontes de coração mole? Meu tipo de herói.

Faltou pouco para ser o livro perfeito

Eu preciso pontuar que senti que faltou alguma coisa em Amante por uma tarde. Talvez eu esperasse um pouco mais de resistência por parte de lady Sophia ou que o plot principal da história tivesse consequências mais profundas para o romance.

Ainda assim, Lisa Kleypas realmente conseguiu me surpreender na sua primeira trilogia de romance de época — e geralmente eu acho que os primeiros livros deixam muito a desejar, como foi com os da Julia Quinn.

Ross foi exatamente o herói sedutor que eu gostaria que ele fosse e Sophia entregou a heroína que faz com que eu ame desesperadamente ler romances de época. A escrita da Lisa se prova uma obra de arte apesar dos pontos que deixaram a desejar e, no final, Amante por uma tarde nos deixa com um gosto de quero mais.
